Chris Rembert turned heads well beyond the SEC during his freshman season at Auburn.
The second baseman played a key role in the Tigers’ run to the NCAA Super Regionals, then carried that momentum into the summer. Rembert started at second base and hit leadoff for Team USA and also impressed during a brief stint in the Cape Cod League, showing he could handle premium pitching with a wood bat.
Now a draft-eligible sophomore, Rembert has positioned himself as a prospect to watch ahead of July’s MLB draft. Scouts project him as a potential first-round pick.
“It’s awesome,” Rembert said on developing into a top draft prospect. “That was the ultimate goal. Every kid grows up with the goal of playing in the major leagues. I am just grateful to have the opportunity to potentially accomplish that.”
Rembert is a 6-foot, 205-pound infielder with a well-balanced tool set. The right-handed hitter shows an advanced approach and a strong feel for the strike zone. That approach allows him to thrive as a line-drive hitter who consistently drives the ball to the pull side. He projects as a top-of-the-order bat who may not offer huge power but gets on base and impacts the game in multiple ways.
“I have always had a strong approach, but coming to Auburn has just sharpened that approach,” Rembert said. “What we do at practice plays a lot into my success. Sticking to my approach and not switching it up based on the pitcher or count has helped. I just stick to who I am and what I am good at.”
Defensively, Rembert has experience across the diamond. He played second base, third base and shortstop in high school, then primarily started at second base for Auburn last season. He also made nine appearances in right field, marking the first time in his career he moved off the infield.
Long term, Rembert profiles best at second base. He is a reliable defender there, with the athleticism and arm strength to handle the position.
“My bat is my biggest strength,” Rembert said. “But my defense is catching up to my bat. I feel like I have grown a lot in the fall and now this spring season.
“I will do whatever I can to get on the field. At the end of the day, I am here to help my team. I understand that being versatile is a good thing and can only help.”
This spring, the Tigers look to build off last season’s momentum and return to the College World Series for the first time since 2022. Rembert headlines a deep and talented roster that ranks among the best in the SEC and in college baseball.
Rembert believes the Tigers have the pieces in place for a special season in a program he is grateful to be part of.
“It’s been awesome to be here,” Rembert said. “This is one of the best environments in all of college baseball. Traveling around the country to experience other schools, Auburn is definitely one of the best places to play at.”
