Louisville fends off elimination with huge win: Photo Gallery

Facing elimination, Louisville erupted for six runs in the eighth inning to rally past Arizona 8-3 on Sunday at the College World Series.

The Cardinals (41-23) trailed 3-2 entering the bottom of the eighth but capitalized on two Arizona errors and a barrage of clutch hits to stay alive.

Jake Munroe reached on a misplayed grounder to short, and Eddie King Jr. followed with a single. After Arizona summoned the NCBWA Stopper of the Year from the bullpen, Tague Davis dropped a bloop into right-center to load the bases. Zion Rose’s two-run single gave Louisville its first lead.

Kamau Neighbors, who finished 4 for 5, added an RBI single. Garret Pike scored on an error, Alex Alicea executed a squeeze bunt, and Matt Klein capped the six-run frame with an RBI single.

Tucker Biven (4-0) sealed the win with four scoreless innings in relief. Wyatt Danilowicz added 1 1/3 shutout frames. Arizona ends its season at 44-21.
