Coastal Carolina broke a 4-4 tie with a three-run rally in the eighth inning, and Dominick Carbone silenced an Arizona threat in the ninth to secure a 7-4 victory Friday in its College World Series opener in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Chanticleers (54-11) extended their winning streak to 24 games in their first trip to Omaha since winning the national title over Arizona in 2016. They’ll return to action Sunday to face No. 8 national seed Oregon State.
