Live Looks: Dominic Santarelli, OF, St. Joseph (Wis.) HS

Dominic Santarelli has emerged as Wisconsin’s top prep baseball prospect, and the St. Joseph High School outfielder continues to show why. The left-handed hitter is a well-rounded player known for his raw power, advanced plate discipline and surprising athleticism at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds.

Santarelli showcased his all-around skill set Monday night.

In his first two plate appearances, Santarelli drew walks by refusing to chase pitches off the plate. He then flashed his instincts and athleticism on the bases, stealing second easily after his first walk. During his second trip on base, he nearly caught the pitcher off guard again, breaking toward second before the pitcher began his delivery. The pitcher recovered just in time and made a strong throw to narrowly retire Santarelli in a close play.

Santarelli nearly left the yard in his third at-bat. He drove a low outside pitch to left-center field with authority, sending a ball that appeared destined to clear the fence off the bat. The wind kept it in the park, however, and the left fielder made the catch at the wall.

Defensively, Santarelli covered significant ground in center field and showed respectable arm strength with accurate throws.

Santarelli is considered a potential early-round selection in July’s MLB draft. His game blends disciplined preparation with natural ability. He combines tape-measure power with an advanced approach at the plate, producing impact contact without sacrificing consistency. Defensively, he remains an intriguing athlete in the outfield with the tools to play it in pro ball.

With the draft approaching, Santarelli is a player to watch closely over the coming weeks.
